When I set out to create great images, I begin with an idea of how I can achieve a certain mood or look a client is requesting. I don’t put limits on myself on how to go about achieving a specific look. Photography has always been about capturing light and modifying it. Unique camera angles, lens choice and creative exposure lend themselves to creating interesting perspectives. The proper combination leads to great photography which looks natural and believable.

I utilize all the tools available to me, this includes: the right lenses, natural light, light modifiers and studio flash. I believe in getting most of the image correct in the camera and using Photoshop only for those effects that cannot be achieved in the camera. In the past, photographers did their image manipulations in the dark room, now it is done in Photoshop. For example, I do a lot of glamour work and many of my clients are interested in appearing youthful, by softening skin I can remove several years from their look. I start by using the proper lighting to remove years from a client’s skin and finish up the look in Photoshop. This is something that cannot always be achieved using natural light alone.

I’m pretty liberal in my photographic philosophy and relentless in pursuing my client’s needs and wants. I use all the tools at my disposal to make my clients look their very best. I’m constantly improving my craft in order to create the best possible images for my clients. I stay current in the latest photographic trends by being a member of PPA and attending workshops.
